Every work an artist creates is a lifeftime in the making.
When exploring a deserted beach in the Bahamas I photographed the mess of plastic bits that littered the beach. I mined the photos for shapes and colors to use in my Fragments and Little Harbour series. One of the shapes I used earlier this year had the distinctive look of a ship. For dozens of years I have obsessively avoided anything that was obviously representational and was a bit horrified when I kept referring to it as a ship. When finally acknowledging it was a ship everything started falling into place and I happily have been following the “path of the ship” on this new journey.
